The Sobremesa Coffee Story

We are a passion-driven, small-batch coffee roastery nestled in the heart of Wisconsin.

I'm Kevin DeLeon, the founder and head roaster, and this is our story.

A Humble Beginning: A Drip Machine & Whirly-Blade Grinder

My journey into the world of coffee began modestly, with a drip coffee machine & whirly-blade grinder. This humble start was more than just a method of brewing; it was the beginning of a deep seeded passion for coffee. From those first sips, I discovered that it wasn't just about the beans, but also about the people and moments shared around the table.

Elevating the Experience: From Drip to Espresso

As my passion grew, so did my tools and techniques. The drip machine & whirly-blade grinder were upgraded to an Aeropress & hand grinder then eventually a home espresso bar & specialty grinder. This newly discovered playground allowed for endless exploration, but I quickly realized the benefit of freshly roasted coffee in crafting a great-tasting cup.

The Back Porch Roastery: A Discovery of Flavors

Driven by curiosity and a thirst for quality, I dove into the world of coffee roasting. With an air popper and green coffee in hand, my back porch transformed into a makeshift roastery. Each roast was an adventure, each batch a new discovery, some better than others but always making improvements.

Sharing the Journey: From Family & Friends to You

What started as an experiment soon turned into a ritual of sharing with family and friends. Their enthusiasm and feedback were the seeds from which Sobremesa Coffee sprouted. It became clear that this passion could be a shared journey with a wider community.

Sobremesa Coffee: More Than Just a Cup

Our company was founded on the idea that great coffee should be shared with others. We’re also firm believers in taking a moment to hang out and relax with friends and family. Sobremesa, in the Spanish culture is just that; spending time around the table, after a meal, relaxing and conversing with others. So, grab some coffee and have a Sobremesa!
